The Solidarity Network
The Solidarity Network is a collective of civil society activists working for transformative change, which has gathered in response to barriers being faced by civil society organisations in their efforts to work towards a society which is based on the values espoused by the Solidarity Network of radical hope, equality, ecological sustainability, solidarity and community.
Following a series of discussions among a range of activists the Solidarity Network developed an initial discussion paper Towards a Civil Society for Transformative Change. This paper is a statement of issues, vision and values which have been prepared as a stimulus and starting point for a wider conversation across civil society.
This Discussion Paper was the basis for the first Solidarity Network event in March 2025 with over 50 civil society activists. As an outcome from this event the members of the Solidarity Network have developed three resources to enable action to improve the situation for a civil society for transformative change:
- A values statement to support reflection within our organisations on how to strengthen our contribution to transformative change.
- A manifesto around which to build political demands to enable a civil society for transformative change.
- A guide frame for developing and facilitating civil society discussion spaces that can help build momentum at grass-roots level for the change needed for an equal, ecologically sustainable and socially just society.
You can find the resources here:
These resources papers, and how we can use them, will be the focus for the second Solidarity Network event for civil society activists on the 29th April 2026.
